The Museum of the Moving Image

December 6, 2012

Last Saturday I had the pleasure of visiting the Museum of the Moving Image in Astoria, Queens. The museum located directly next door to the famed Kaufman Astoria Studio on 35th Avenue and 36th Street provides a fascinating look into the production of movies.  The museum takes you through the history of moving pictures and has on display many historical items that were used in production. There are interactive demonstration, and exhibits taking you through the many aspects of production, including sound, visual effects, make-up edit, special effect, marketing and merchandising.  The museum at 36-01 36th Street in Astoria is open from 10:30-5 , Tuesday – Thursday, 10:30-8 on Friday and 11:30-7 on Saturday and Sunday. Consult Storehourz.com for directions, nearby transit and restaurants.
